How to generate a password
A password you invent is easier to guess than one the page builds from a random source. Choose the length and the character sets, then copy it into a password manager.
Length first, then the character sets
Sixteen characters is a sound default. Go longer when the site allows it. Turn on lowercase, uppercase, numbers, and symbols unless a form rejects one of those sets.
Skip lookalikes when a person may have to type the password. That drops 0, O, 1, and l.
Store it somewhere other than the page
The generator does not keep the password. Copy it into a password manager as soon as it looks right. Generating again replaces the previous value on the page.
It stays in the browser
The characters are chosen on this page and are not sent to a server. Clear the output when you are done if someone else can see the screen.
