How to format JSON before you share it
A single-line payload is hard to review. Format it when a person will read it, and minify it when you are pasting it into a request that should stay compact.
Format for a person, minify for a machine
Pretty print adds line breaks and indentation so keys and nested objects are easy to scan. Use that before you paste JSON into a review, a ticket, or a document.
Minify removes the extra space. Use that when the destination cares about a short payload, not about reading it.
Trust the parser error
If the text is not valid JSON, the formatter stops and shows the parser error. A trailing comma, a single quote, or a missing brace is enough to fail. Fix the source rather than editing the error message.
The formatter does not invent keys or change values. What you paste is what comes back, only arranged.
Nothing is uploaded
The text stays in the page. Do not paste secrets you would not want on the screen, and clear the field when you are done. The result can be copied or downloaded as a .json file.
