How to calculate compound interest

  1. Enter the starting amount and the yearly rate.
  2. Enter the number of years. Add a monthly amount when you put money in each month.
  3. Click Calculate and read the balance and the interest.

Interest is compounded every month. 1000 at 5% for 2 years, with nothing added, grows to 1104.94. A rate of zero keeps the starting amount and adds the monthly payments.
